Printing with less waste behind it
Most of what makes large format printing more or less sustainable is decided before anything is printed: which ink chemistry, which substrate, and whether the machine is the right size for the work. This is where Midcomp stands on each.
Water-based inks
HP Latex inks are water-based. Prints come off the machine dry and odourless, with no solvent to outgas, which is why they can be installed the same day in an occupied building. The inks hold UL ECOLOGO certification, and the prints are recyclable on media that is itself recyclable.
Media that can be recycled
Substrate choice usually matters more than ink. PVC banner is difficult to recycle; PVC-free banner and non-woven wallpaper are not. We will tell you which alternative works for a given job rather than selling the easiest option.
Right-sizing the machine
A printer that runs at a fraction of its capacity wastes energy and consumables every day it is switched on. This is part of why the Pay Per Use programme exists: it makes it straightforward to run the machine that suits the work rather than the one that suited the budget.
What we do with the old machine
Equipment that comes off a Pay Per Use agreement or a trade-in is refurbished and resold where it has life left, and stripped for parts where it does not.
